Hey y'all!
I got to try the new Welch's Refreshingly Simple juice for free through BzzAgent this last month! I actually sampled the Strawberry Raspberry flavor and it was good!
So the deal with the juice is that it is made with just a few ingredients and made without artificial sweeteners, preservatives, artificial flavors or high fructose. So not bad right? All the things you don't want are not in the juice. A quick jump to their website (welchs.com) and you can find that most flavors of the juice are available in the 59 oz. bottle and an 8 oz. can, which would be great for school lunches and picnics.
When it comes to taste, the Strawberry Raspberry flavor is quite good. It has a little bit of fruit punch taste and it is hard to pick out the individual fruit flavors but they blend nicely. My son, who doesn't normally choose juice when offered choices, was reluctant to try it. After a few days of saying how I liked it, he gave in and had a sip. His reaction was perfectly child like, "MMMmmm! I like it." and he went on to ask for a full glass.
Now, normally, we are not juice drinkers. We pass right by the wall of juice at the store without even pausing to consider it. So, that would end up meaning I have half a bottle of juice in the fridge door, taking up space and going sour. For the purpose of the sampling opportunity, and since they were so nice to send me a free bottle, I am determined not to let that happen. My goal is to either remember to drink it or get creative and find ways to mix it and use it.
A couple of ideas come to mind here: I could make popsicles and use fresh berries to add texture, I could use it in place of water to make really flavorful jell-o or the one that I am most excited about is using a splash in a glass of champagne to make it a little tastier. We'll see what I end up doing!
