Okay June to September is a bit too long, I feel neglectful. I started this thing and I am going to keep it up! We have had quite the summer though, and I don't miss it one bit! Don't get me wrong, we had a great time and time spent with family is a wonderful, precious thing. I just don't get along with hot weather all that well. We did get to go on a couple of local vacations. We went to Washington to visit family and play around at WildWaves amusement park. That was a blast, I am so glad my son loves rides and roller coasters and water slides! While we were up there we played with my aunt and went to the zoo to see some cute animals, we even rode a camel! My cousin had also recently had a baby so we went up to visit the new addition to the family. And by recently I mean he was 6 days old when we got to see him. So sweet! Later on in the summer we went over to Sunriver resort in Bend, OR. That was a good time. My brother flew in from London to spend some time with us and it was really nice to see him. We went horseback riding, my son's first time. He was so nervous and declared that he would not be doing it. When the guides were getting us on our horses, he was the first one called and he got on no problem, all his worries vanished, it was so sweet. The rest of our time was spent relaxing and working and playing near by home, it was beautiful.
My June Ipsy bag is here! If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a monthly beauty subscription. You go to Ipsy.com and fill out a profile (select your style and preferences) and for $10 a month you get 5 beauty samples in a cute new makeup bag sent right to your mail box. They are mostly deluxe samples but every once in a while you get a full size of something. It's a fun way to try out beauty products to see what you like. If you fill out the reviews for each product you can earn points which can be used for other beauty products that they offer.
This month I received Nuxe gentle exfoliating gel which has a light, clean rose scent. It feels really good to use. It has little beads that gently slough off dead skin cells. It says it is for frequent use which means that it is pretty gentle. It's a nice .5oz size so it will last me a while. I also got Befine cucumber facial mask which has a crisp cucumber fragrance. It looks like a white clay mask and goes on easily and dries fast. My favorite part is the rinsing - it comes off so easily and you are not left with dry mud patches that you have to scrub. I could definitely feel the tightening afterward. Next I got Smashbox photo finish primer which has always been my favorite primer. A little bit goes a. long way and your makeup looks great all day. Then there is treStique mini shadow crayon in aspen pine. It's like a shimmery olive green, not what I would typically use on my eyes but I tried it out today with a gold one that I have and it kind of works, breaks the routine of coppery shadow that I have been doing daily. It goes on really smooth and you can build the color to your liking so it's nice. Lastly a Formula X nail color in power source. It's a bright pinky color and one coat is plenty. I feel like most of my polish colors are pretty close to this so I'm happy to try it although I wouldn't have picked it out at the store, The bag this month is a nice black bag with a hot pink zipper. I really like the contrast. The front of the pouch is satiny with IPSY embossed all over and the back is like a wetsuit material, nice and squishy and fun to touch. Overall, this bag is pretty good but when I compare to the other products that were sent out, I would have picked other products for myself. It was very fun to get, I have a really hard time not spoiling it every month though. I wish I could leave it a surprise! This is what came in my PinchMe box last month. If you don't know what PinchMe is it's a free sampling site. Every month they offer limited quintiles of many different things. You log in and try to get the samples you want before they are all gone. As you can see the range of products is huge! It's a fun opportunity to try new things and they all ship for free in one neat little box! This month they had goddess garden organic sunscreen, Shea Moisture baby shampoo and lotion, Lysol gel toilet bowl cleaner, Luzianne sweet tea concentrate, Kraft seasoned parmesan cheese and Gold Bond healing lotion with aloe. So far I have tried the lotion which is so amazing and smooth! It soaks right in and keeps your skin moisturized for the whole day. I have also tried the sunscreen. It's good... the smell is not the best but it's not bad either but the consistency is like wet clay and it's sort of grey but you can see that you get all the skin covered and then in soaks in nicely. I put it on before a long bike ride on a clear sunny day and I came home without a sunburn so it works! I'm saving the tea for our 4th of July BBQ so I hope it is good! OH! I used the toilet bowl gel too! It comes with a little applicator that you use to stick the jelly-like cleaner to the side of the bowl. It's been about a week and the bowl is still sparkly plus it smells good - a light, clean fragrance. The other two items I will get to someday, I can't imagine what I would put the cheese on...
Here is the Silver Hills Sprouted bread sampling kit I got from MomsMeet. I finally found a store that carries the bread so I will be able to share it with my play group next week. The company only makes bread with sprouted grains. They say the process helps unlock valuable nutrients and aids in digestion. I was really glad for the coupons because at $4.99 a loaf it is a bit out of my range. It was in the freezer section at the store but it looks good. The brown bag in the back is an insulated lunch bag which is really cool. I'm excited to share it with the kiddos, as long as it has jelly on it, I know they will like it!
This is what I got (FOR FREE!) last night from BzzAgent! Lots of goodies to get all ready for barbecuing now that the weather is BEAUTIFUL! I want to point out the Sriracha Ketchup, it is SO SPICY! It's really good and goes on just about everything! I made a salad dressing with it and put some of the Top'ems on it for crunch, it was so good! They are working with Kroger to get people into the BBQ spirit and there is a website, BBQTime.com, that is full of yummy ideas. There is also a sampling event at Kroger stores on the weekend that is supposed to inspire as well, however the one I went to last weekend was a dud, the lady just stood there and wasn't inviting anyone to come try whatever it was she had on the grill. (It was hotdogs, but a little energy would have been nice.) So thanks BzzAgent and Kroger for letting me try your products. The Crispy Poblanos Top'ems are very similar to fried onions but they have that taste of peppers that is so good in the summer!
Well Kyan went to bed last night with a fever and woke up this morning with a normal temp. I didn't get any quality sleep though, I was too worried about him. On the other hand the doctor did say that it would be a quick recovery. I just hope he lasts through the day at school. Wish him luck!
Oh! I got a really cool box from BzzAgent.com last night! I will share that with you later! I feel the worst when my son is sick. He has had a fever this weekend and today he missed school because of it. All he wants to do is snuggle, which is my favorite thing, but I feel so awful that I can't help him be his normal active self. If I could, I would snap it away in an instant. The doctor says there is just a bug going around but most children are getting over it quickly so I hope he feels better soon! The weird part is that he is fine during the afternoon and then bed time comes and his temp spikes and he crashes. Poor fella.
I was blown away by this month's box from Bonjour Jolie. The theme was Women of Nepal (their plan before the quake... but now to help support the families). There is a beautiful cuff bracelet, Himalayan Sole Stone bath, Organic Lilac Blossoms Lotion, Hi-Chew candy, Garden Lucky candy, Imei Cream Wafers, Hello Panda Cookies and Snapple Tea drink mixes. Plus the usual Advil and Summer's Eve wipes and the tools! All of it is amazing!
...So what do I do with it? I'm not a crafty type person so I don't know how to DIY stuff, I barely have an idea of how to apply makeup so no tutorials, I'm not a decorator or fashion guru or home maker or master chef...what the heck am I doing?! I think I am mostly just moving my fingers while I talk to myself... today at least. I'm sure something will happen organically now that I have the platform. I don't want to ramble on but I kinda do at the same time. This is my space and I can do whatever I please. One part of me wants to be talking to an audience and the other wants a private place to be. I wonder if anyone would ever actually find this? If I don't broadcast the fact that I am here...will anyone stumble upon me? How will they be? Who will they be? What will they find?
Just been playing around with a few buttons, getting used to this site...slightly strange. Hope I picked a winner! I can't figure out how to change the font everywhere and there seem to be a lot of add-ons. If I was actually on my computer I would put up some real pictures but I am not so we get fake ones for now. I wish this site would let me have multiple pages that I could post to - special categories and what not so that I could highlight certain things. I don't really like these running lists that you have to scroll through to get what you want out of it. But it's only been 20 minutes so I'll keep working on it.
